Golf is one of the sports in Nigeria which has gained much familiarity over the recent years, golf is a sport that involves a club and a ball, the game is played all over the globe as well and involves players hitting the golf ball with the club while on the golf course in such as a way that the ball will go into the desired whole just with that stroke or hit.
Similarly, it is an inspirational sport that cuts across all ages, gender and ability to enjoy further competitive recreation. It is associated with the terminology golf course; which is the ground where golf game is been played consisting of either 9 or 18 holes.
The most important part of the golf sport is associated with coping with the varied topography encountered on different golf courses because the game doesn’t make use of a regulated playing spot.
In the sports of golf the holes are arranged in a sequential order of at least 18 holes on the golf course, though at the recreational course level, the wholes are usually 9 in number. Each of the holes has essential features which include a fairway, a hole (cup), a flagstick (pin), teeing ground, the rough and other hazards.
Golf in Nigeria has long been in existence, though it was only for recreational purposes and local game competitions, in recent times, the golf sports has gone viral and Nigerians are now participating fully in various national and international championships and has also won some trophies in some of the featured gold sports.
